The 2026 London World Team Table Tennis Championships presented significant challenges for China, yet they ultimately claimed both titles. The men’s team had a rocky start in the group stage, losing consecutively to South Korea and Sweden, raising doubts about their chances. However, they regained their form in the knockout rounds, particularly in the final, where they swept Japan 3-0.
The women’s team faced a tougher test in the final. After smooth sailing in earlier matches, Wang Manyu and Kuai Man both suffered losses. Sun Yingsha stepped up to level the score twice, and Wang Manyu redeemed herself by defeating Hina Hayata in the decisive match, securing the title.
Upon departure from London, the team members appeared relaxed. Wang Chuqin was seen casually snacking, having posted a perfect 10-0 record in the tournament, solidifying his role as the anchor of the men’s team. Upon arrival in Beijing, Wang Chuqin, Sun Yingsha, and Wang Manyu exited through the VIP channel to avoid the large crowd of fans. This decision ensured smooth passage for the high-profile athletes.
Coaches Wang Hao and Ma Lin, along with player Liang Jingkun, took the regular exit. Wang Hao was greeted by his wife and son, who presented him with flowers and a warm embrace. Liang Jingkun’s two sons were also at the airport, offering flowers to their father. Liang Jingkun’s face lit up with joy upon seeing his children.
