Samara’s sports director Andrey Fedorov told Match TV that the basketball club has been unable to provide financial guarantees to the VTB United League for the upcoming season.
Earlier, the Telegram channel “Perekhvat” reported that Samara would not be able to compete in the next VTB United League season.
“I can confirm that we did not submit an application, and we do not have financial guarantees that meet the league’s requirements. That’s why we didn’t submit one. It’s a fact. Today is the last day to submit an application,” Fedorov said.
In the past regular season, Samara finished last in the VTB United League, winning only two out of 40 games.
