Medvedev: ‘Sensations Happen in Sports’ – On Other Players’ Chances to Beat Sinner at Rome and Roland Garros

World No. 9 Daniil Medvedev believes that, in theory, any player can defeat ATP top-ranked Jannik Sinner at the Rome Masters or the upcoming Roland Garros.

When asked whether anyone could beat Sinner in Rome or Paris without Carlos Alcaraz in the draw, Medvedev replied: “Let’s put it this way—anyone can, from the first round to the last. In sports, sensations always happen. But he’s playing incredibly well and rarely has an off day. So usually when you have someone like Carlos, or maybe Novak, who beat him in Australia, you can say, ‘Okay, they can compete with him.’ I did that in Indian Wells. But on clay? I don’t know. I’ve never faced him on clay. When he plays like this, I’d say everyone has the same chance to beat him—though the odds are very low. But that’s sports! So don’t be surprised if it happens,” Medvedev told Championat correspondent Daniil Salnikov.

The Rome Masters draw is set.
