Palmeiras defender Bruno Fuchs spoke out after his stoppage-time goal against Remo was disallowed by the referee, arguing that the handball by teammate Flaco López was not intentional. The match, part of the 15th round of the Brasileirão, ended in a 1-1 draw at Mangueirão on Sunday (10) in Belém, Pará.
The goal came in the 49th minute when Fuchs headed home, but after a VAR review, the referee deemed that Flaco López had handled the ball in the build-up. Fuchs explained his perspective:
“I said that, from what I know of the rule, if Flaco had scored, it would have to be disallowed. But the ball hit Flaco’s arm and then came to me. The rule is very clear: it wasn’t an intentional handball by him. It was a close-range ball that popped out to me, and I scored. I’m not sure if they know the rule. I tried to talk to the referee, Klein, and told him: ‘Klein, the rule is clear. The ball hit Flaco and came to me, not back to him.’ Every game, every team talks about the refereeing. I don’t know if it’s the players who need to understand better or if it’s the referees themselves,” the center-back lamented after the draw.

Fuchs also addressed the match being delayed by 1 hour and 38 minutes due to heavy rain in Belém, and expressed disappointment that Palmeiras only managed to take one point from a team sitting second from bottom in the league table.
“We’ll see what happens—the CBF will review the rules again and decide what they need to do. I believe that in every Brasileirão match, teams talk about the refereeing. I don’t know if players need to understand it better or if the referees do, so we don’t have to keep coming here and complaining about it. For us, it’s a bad result, but at least we didn’t lose,” concluded Abel Ferreira’s number three.
